Happy New Year!

Hi!
We hope you've all had a great Christmas and wish you a peaceful and prosperous New Year.

The Village Hall Committee had a busy end to their year, and it looks as though 2015 will be equally busy.  Our 3 events, the Hallowe'en party, the coffee morning and the Christmas Carols & Supper were all well-attended and seemingly enjoyed by all.  Thank you to everyone who came and joined in with the fun.  The three events and the Raffle raised over £1000 with a profit of over £600 so we're very pleased.  First prize for the Raffle was won by Anita Firth, second prize Karen Hammond.  Other prizes were won by Stuart Dulson, Cherry Bullimore, Soo Beddow, Jeanette Gallacher, Arnold Hallam, J Hindle, and A Martin.

At present we are applying for funding from various national and local charities for the much-needed renovation work and in the meantime we are planning a full programme of events for 2015. We have lots of ideas and will let you know as soon as the programme is finalised. The income from events will go towards the annual running costs and to provide minor improvements such as the new light shades in the Hall, the temporary heating and some temporary double glazing.

Our first event of 2015 is a coffee morning on the 17th January from 10am till 12 noon.
Join us and enjoy a home-baked cake or scone, or a tempting bacon sandwich or toasted teacake.

Coffee mornings will be held on the 3rd Saturday of every month.  We’re also hoping to set up a book and jigsaw exchange, so start looking out those unwanted books and jigsaws, and we're collecting any unwanted Christmas presents that could be used as Tombola prizes.

If you want to be kept informed of our events we shall be pleased to add you to our mailing list.  To add your name and address or your email address send an email to cridlingstubbsvillagehall@gmail.com

Sunday 14 September 2014

Hello friends.

This is the first newsletter from the new Village Hall Committee that many of you helped to elect last Monday evening.  Thank you for your support and confidence.

We have already had our first full meeting and agreed that we need your help in deciding how best to proceed.  We have lots of ideas but it's your Village Hall so we need to know what you think.  The Village Hall is held in Trust for you.

Within the next few days you will receive a questionnaire asking for your ideas.  How would you want the Village Hall to be used?

And yes, we know it needs a lot of work.  In recent months, and under the old committee, some of this has been started.  You will have noticed a new roof, disabled access and there have been improvements to the toilets and kitchen, but there is much, much more to be done.

Not least the heating!  We know how cold and unwelcoming it can be in the winter.  Imagine, however, that it's warm and cosy, nicely decorated - a real home from home!

We're currently looking at ways of funding the necessary building work to make the Hall into an attractive venue, a real community centre.

We'll keep in touch with you via the notice board outside the Hall and via this blog.  We see this as a joint effort.  We need your continuing support if the Village Hall is to thrive.  Without that support it may fall into further disrepair and disuse.

If you would like to help please get in touch.  We have an email address cridlingstubbsvillagehall@gmail.com or you can contact any one of the committee members direct.  There's a list on the Village Hall notice board.  There'll be many opportunities to get involved with future events planned.

With very best wishes
The Village Hall Committee
